THE TOOLBOX INITIATIVE - Winter 2018
THE TOOLBOX INITIATIVE is KITE Program's first step toward bettering education for the underserved community. Before beginning any journey it is imperative to have the right tools in order to succeed. Unfortunately many children in third world countries do not have the basic tools required to receive a proper education. With THE TOOLBOX INITIATIVE we plan on providing children with everyday supplies that can help them succeed.
THE TOOLBOX INITIATIVE plans on providing roughly 150 students with supplies which we believe are a basic necessity for any child to have in order to excel in academics. We plan on providing the students with their tools by mid December 2018.

Where Are The Toolbox Going ?
- For our first initiative, The KITEProgram has decided to concentrate its resources and funds on helping the children of the Az-Zahid Academy located in Kotli, Azad Kashmir. The Az-Zahid Academy provides education to students between the kindergarten and twelfth grade. The Academy has over 500 students spread over three campuses in the city of Kotli, which is located roughly three hours away from Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.

Why Azad Kashmir ?
- According to Pakistan District Education Ranking 2017, Kotli is ranked at 119 nationally with a readiness score of 35.47 and retention score of 35.36. The learning score is low because of lack of quality teachers and no proper formal teacher training. The retention score is low because of low number of students pursuing education beyond primary schools. When it comes to infrastructure , Kotli ranks at 154 , which is the second lowest with a score of 14.14. This shows there is a serious problem and lack of provision of basic facilities like electricity , functional toilets , furniture and lack of boundary walls.
